Why You’ll Love These Homemade Cheez-Its
- Made with real sharp cheddar
- Only 6 ingredients
- Crisp, cheesy, and perfect for snacking
- Kid-approved and great for lunchboxes or party bowls
Ingredients
- 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cold water
- Flaky salt, for topping (optional)
Instructions
1. Make the Dough
In a food processor, pulse together the shredded cheddar, butter, flour, and salt until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add cold water and pulse again until the dough comes together.
2. Chill the Dough
Form the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
3. Roll and Cut
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough until very thin (about 1/8 inch). Cut into 1-inch squares and use a skewer or straw to poke a small hole in the center of each.
4. Bake Until Golden
Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with flaky salt, if using. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
5. Cool and Crunch
Let cool completely for maximum crunch. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days (if they last that long!).
